Process of importing a Japanese car :

1. Buy a vehicle in Japan

2. Export from Japanese Port book into car carrier ship

3. Shipping to Australia on car carrier (around 5 weeks)

4. Importation into Australia Customs & Tax duty etc.. (around 10 days)

5. Compliance to Australian Design Standard ( 1 to 4 weeks)

6. Receive Import Approval Vin Plate & Servicing

7. Deliver to your door

How Does It Work?

1. What type of car do you want?

Every week in Japan the car industry releases fact sheets and information on the new technology of cars and parts so we are able to provide you with this information before as soon as it is announced and much faster than the magazines. We can also offer suggestions on alternative vehicles that you may be interested in importing.

2. How much do you want to spend?

How much you spend depends on what car you want to buy, the kilometers, year model, colour and modifications. If you have a specific budget we will try to get the car you want, it may also take longer to find that a vehicle with the price you want to spend.

3. Finance

Before we bid on a vehicle at the auction or send our staff to see the vehicle in Japan, we do ask for a deposit, in case you change your mind. Because once we buy the car in Japan we need to cover the cost of it. Depending on the vehicle price in Japan we do ask for at least 10% of the price.

4. Shipping to Australia

There are several car carrier shipping companies. With our experience, there are a few companies that have a bad reputation. The accessories or goods have been stolen or damaged whilst on its way to Australia. The best companies to use are Japanese and Australian based which we use to ship your car. We guarantee your money back if your car or car parts have been stolen or damaged.

5. Compliancing

Once your car arrives in Australia the car will be sent to FANFANS IMPORTS compliance center to get your vehicle to meet Australian Design Standards. We have more than 20 years experience in motor engineering to do the compliance. Once the compliance has been done, the transport department in Canberra will send us an "Import Approval Vin Plate" to stick into your car.

6. Registering in your name

After your car has the Australian Vin Number, we offer you a free vehicle service by our experienced mechanics and by following the service manual book from Japan to keep up your vehicle in good condition. Also your car will be provided with a Safety Certificate before you take it to transport department to register the vehicle in your name. It doesn't matter where you live FANFAN'S IMPORTS can organize domestic transport to anywhere in Australia.

7. Insurance and Warranty

To put your mind at ease, we recommend you using our insurance provided and warranty if its needed. You don't need to worry about getting insurance or warranty for imported vehicles our experienced sales staff will assist you the right way.

8. After Care

FANFANS IMPORTS also imports spare parts for all imported vehicles with local Japanese prices. If your car needs repairs or service our experienced mechanics will provide you with a responsible and quality job for you vehicle.
